Tackle Cancer is an effort by the Minnesota Football Coaches Association to raise funds for the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. Teams all over the state have included their schools and communities in the fight for cancer research and patient aid. In 10 years, Tackle Cancer has raised over $2.1 million for local doctors, research centers, and patients.
The Stillwater Area community helped raise $25,146.70 in 2019 (there was no campaign in 2020)! Watch: 2019 Results
We hope you will join us in the effort. This year, we recognize five sophomore players who have been significantly impacted by cancer. Hewitt Yang is tackling liver cancer for his sister. Kris Acevez is tackling cancer in memory of his dad who passed away in April 2020. Sam Doughty is tackling breast cancer for his mom. Grayson Zurn is tackling kidney cancer in memory of his dad who passed away in October 2020. Charlie Goodland tackled Hodkin’s lymphoma in 2020 and is now back on the gridiron!
