In a battle of undefeated teams, the Ponies played host to the Raiders and their 30-game Suburban East Conference win streak. The Ponies scored two long touchdowns and relied on a defense that kept the Raiders between the 20 yard-lines almost all night. The Red and Black defense was the difference, holding CDH to historic low point and yardage totals since it joined the league in 2005. With their all-state quarterback sidelined by an injury, the Raiders rushed the ball 40 times. The defense, led by prolific tacklers Jeremy Gillard and Andrew Rose, smothered ball carriers. With his performance, in fact, Gillard broke the all-time school record for defensive points in a game, which was set by Rose the week before. The victory was all but sealed when senior Justin Bernardin intercepted a deep pass at the Ponies two yard-line with one minute remaining. The Big Red offense struggled, but was opportunistic while getting a long touchdown run by workhorse Jesse George and a long touchdown pass from quarterback Miles Heller to Andrew Nepp. All the scoring took place in the opening frame, but big plays were exchanged throughout and key drives sustained, only to stop just short of points. The Ponies staged the upset, reversing the previous two games when CDH outscored them a combined 84-21, paving the way to the SEC title. The locals at the packed home field walked away having watched perhaps the biggest win in the history of Pony Stadium, which opened in 2002.
