Stillwater 14 - Kellogg 7

1971: Stillwater 14 - Kellogg 7

The Ponies were a new team with a new staff. We were struggling and needed something good to happen to us. Kellogg was a ranked team and we had but a single victory to date. Our defense, sparked by all-conference, two-way performer Tim Nelson, kept the Chargers off balance and put us in position to win the game. The offense, led by quarterback Jack Demoski, was able to control the ball and the line of scrimmage with power-type plays, using running backs Rob Ries and Tim Nelson to its advantage. The late Robbie Ries, a great three-sport athlete at Stillwater, ran wild and had a career night. This Pivotal game gave our young players something to build upon.
