2015 Program Improvements

Spending

The Ponies Touchdown Club (PTC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization intended to support the Stillwater football program.  The PTC has done a great job of executing immediately while planning the long term future of the program under the direction of Coach LaBore.  The group has organized initiatives to bring stakeholders together.  Finally, significant promotions and fundraising have helped the program make necessary improvements.  The following are highlights from the fifth year under Coach LaBore with the assistance of the PTC in year four:

  • Purchased 50 Riddell Speed Flex helmets for the varsity players to move enough Riddell Revo Speed helmets down to ninth grade. This allows us to move ninth graders out of the Riddell Revolution helmets which were in regulation junior sizes and rated lower by the Virginia Tech rating study.
  • Purchased new shoulder pads for offensive and defensive linemen.
  • Purchased new Adidas Techfit uniforms for the varsity to replace old, worn sophomore uniforms. This allows the sophomores to wear the old varsity uniforms, new in 2012 and in great shape.
  • Purchase of practice equipment, including: field pads, hand-held pads, lineman T-Boards, and some miscellaneous equipment.
  • Cooperated with VAA Football to purchase a 1-man Lev Sled, a Pan Sled, and a 6-man Speed Chute to be used at each junior high by our VAA 7th and 8th grade teams.
  • Assisted with the funding of ninth graders from the junior highs to the high school to combine the players for practice and balanced teams while using high school resources.
  • Sponsored “Vote Yes to Reinvest” effort to help successfully pass the 2015 referendum.
  • Sponsored the 2nd Annual Ponies Football Alumni Gathering.
  • Continued agreement with Adidas for low cost cleats and apparel for our football players and families.
  • Continued use of Hudl game film software.
  • Funded additional 9th-12th grade football coaches.
  • Assist with use of www.poniesfootball.com website and maintained a Facebook page, You Tube channel, Twitter account, and Scoop It news feed.
  • Annual purchase of footballs, decals, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Supported coaching staff with some education resources and clinics.
  • Reward 2016 Stillwater graduate Nick Johnson with the Ponies Touchdown Club Scholarship worth $1,000.
  • Produce Ponies Game Day Program to 48 pages including commemoration of the 1975 and 1995 State Championship teams.
  • Assisted the program with day to day costs which essentially “nickel and dime” our program.
  • Created gatherings after most home games to build community within football supporters.
  • Continued nutrition partnership meetings with Lakeview Hospital and PowerUp. Meetings include presentation and healthy snacks for the players. Also added the winter session that focuses on how players can gain weight in a healthy fashion.
  • Finance game day ops, which includes professional mascot, press box scripting and music coordinated with the pep band, the Dick Enberg voice over entrance, and the stampede of the horse and cowgirl.

In short, the PTC seeks to continue our strong tradition as well as improve the Stillwater Ponies Football Program now and into the future.  The safety and performance of our players is of the utmost importance to the football staff and the PTC board.  We are striving to help Stillwater Ponies football become the most-respected program in Minnesota.
