2016 Program Improvements

Spending

The Ponies Touchdown Club (PTC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization intended to support the Stillwater football program. The PTC has helped flip all of the organizational and equipment needs and wants of the program while planning the long term future of the program under the direction of Coach LaBore. The group has organized initiatives to bring stakeholders together. Finally, significant promotions and fundraising have helped the program make necessary improvements. The following are highlights from the sixth year under Coach LaBore with the assistance of the PTC in year five:

  • Purchased eight medium Riddell Speed Flex helmets for the varsity players to move enough medium Riddell Revo Speed helmets down to ninth grade.
  • Purchased new shoulder pads for wide receivers, defensive backs, and running backs
  • Purchased a set of Rogers Agiles Field Bags, three sets of Rogers Sweep Shields, and a set of Rogers Bullet Arms to complete the overhaul of field pad equipment beginning in 2015.
  • Assisted with the funding of ninth graders from the junior highs to the high school to combine the players for practice and balanced teams while using high school resources.
  • Continued agreement with Adidas for low cost cleats and apparel for our football players and families.
  • Continued use of Hudl game film software.
  • Funded use of Echo in-game film review.
  • Funded additional 9th-12th grade football coaches.
  • Assist with use of www.poniesfootball.com website and maintained a Facebook page, You Tube channel, Twitter account, and Scoop It news feed.
  • Annual purchase of footballs, decals, and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Supported coaching staff with some education resources and clinics.
  • Rewarded 2016 Stillwater graduates Kevin Jones (four-year) and Josh Wille (two-year) with Ponies Touchdown Club Scholarships worth $1,000.
  • Produced Ponies Game Day Program, increasing it to 48 pages including commemoration of the new practice field and Ponies Stadium turf.
  • Assisted the program with day to day costs which essentially “nickel and dime” our program.
  • Created gatherings after most home games to build community within football supporters.
  • Continued nutrition partnership meetings with Lakeview Hospital and PowerUp. Meetings include presentation and healthy snacks for the players.
  • Finance game day ops, which includes professional mascot, press box scripting and music coordinated with the pep band, the halftime competition, and the Dick Enberg voice over entrance.

In short, the PTC seeks to continue our strong tradition as well as improve the Stillwater Ponies Football Program now and into the future. The safety and performance of our players is of the utmost importance to the football staff and the PTC board. We are striving to help Stillwater Ponies football become the most-respected program in Minnesota.
