MVP – Men Values Purpose – hosted John and Jim Gagliardi on Tuesday, April 23 in the Garden Room at Trinity Lutheran Church.  John Gagliardi retired as head football coach at St. John’s University in November 2012.  He concluded his career as college football’s all-time winningest coach with a career record of 489-138-11 (.775) and four national championships.  His son Jim, who played and coached for his dad and remains on staff for new head coach Gary Fasching, also shared some insights of the legendary coach.  The packed audience bellowed with laughter as Gagliardi shared stories, lessons, and reflections on his record 64 years coaching college football.  Former Stillwater head football coach George Thole and past Ponies players who also suited up for Gagliardi were in on the experience.  Also in attendance was head football coach Beau LaBore who played at St. John’s.  “John is a national treasure,” LaBore said.  “He was innovative, unique, and a fierce competitor.  More importantly, John used football to help college students become better men, sons, brothers, husbands, fathers, and contributors to society.  Football was more than just a game.”
