Nursing Home Visits

The varsity football team closed week one with a visit to three nursing homes in Stillwater: Good Samaritan, Golden Living Center- Greeley, and Golden Living Center- Linden. On Friday, August 17 our young men prepared a barbecue, served and dined with the residents. This is the second year the football team served nursing homes in the community.

Parent Kathy Conery, who works with each nursing home and organized the event, said the staff and residents were looking forward to the event and our players lived up to the build up. "The boys were absolutely perfect," Conery said.  "We could not have asked for anything more from these young men."

This is one in a series of service projects the team has conducted.  The program was the power team for the Special Olympics in June, coached the Pony Youth Camp with Coach LaBore in July, and worked the Gopher to Badger course in early August.  The team will travel to Feed My Starving Children to end two-a-days practice and host the annual Adaptive Football Day in October.  The sophomores will also conduct a food drive during the season.
